It came as a shock for most of the Victoria Secret’s followers. After 23 glamorous runway, the 2019 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show won’t be happening.
One of the biggest model Shanina Shaik revealed it as a piece of news to Australian publication The Daily Telegraph. She quoted, “Unfortunately, the Victoria’s Secret Show won’t be happening this year.”
28 years old Shanina told the newspaper that she is truly disappointed stating the matter publicly. She further quoted, “It is something I am not used to because every year around this time I am training like an angel.
As for now, the show is seemingly going for a break, Shaik stated to the outlet as they are trying new ways to brand the show.
Shaik first took the ramp walk in the show in 2011. She appeared on the runway for years like 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2018.
This show has remained a highly anticipated show for many years. It included A-list models like Gigi Hadid, Bella, Kendall Jenner, Behati Prinsloo, etc.
Past angels include names like Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, Naomi Campbell, etc. The fashion show had witnessed legendary performances like The Weeknd, Kanye West, Maroon S and Rihanna.
The news of the cancellation comes after it was revealed that the show will not be broadcast on Television. In the month of May, CNBC reported that a memo was sent to Victoria’s Secret staff by Les Wexler, the CEO of L Brands(the parent company of the brand) which informed that the network television wasn’t the best match for the annual runway show. Fashion is evolving and growing to new changes. With that mindset, they have decided to rethink over traditional approaches. Time will tell how the show will revamp itself to gain popularity in the coming future.
