Jersey Shore star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino was put behind the prison bars owing to tax evasion case. The 36-year-old reality star had turned himself in at the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in New York.

He had been accused of tax fraud and will begin to serve an eight-month sentence for tax fraud. Is ‘The Situation’ out of Jail?

Sorrentino along with his brother Marc was charged guilty last January for similar charges. They were previously charged in 2014 with tax offences related to the approximate US $9 million in income.

The Judge also ordered a $10,000 fine and $123,000 in restitution that was paid into court in Newark, N.J in 2018 October. His brother Marc Sorrentino, was ordered to serve prison for up to 2 years.

Before heading to the prison, Sorrentino went live on Instagram as he drove to surrender himself at the correctional institution.

He quoted saying,” I am just going to handle and put this behind me and move forward”. Lauren Sorrentino, wife of Mike Sorrentino read out the positive comments that were coming in from several fans across the world.

Is Mike “The Situation” Out of Jail?

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is no more behind the bars. He is a free man now. The Situation was released on September 12, 2019, at 8: 10 AM EST from the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution New York, after an eight-month sentence for tax evasion.

Sorrentino’s wife quoted saying,” We are happy to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends, and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort”.

FCI Otisville’s minimum-security camp has a reputation of being one of the better places in the federal prison. There, the inmates have access to several recreational activities like bocce ball, tennis, etc.

They can enjoy perks like holiday cookouts and HBO. Other inmates at the prison include Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen along with Fyre Festival founder Billy Mc Farland.

Sorrentino was kept in close contact with his Jersey Shore castmates since reporting to prison 5 months ago. On his 37th birthday on July 4, Paul “DJ Pauly D” Del Vecchio reported saying that Mike was doing fine behind bars, though he was looking forward to releasing and going to his wife.

Sorrentino got along with his fellow inmates and spent his days working out and reading. Once Sorrentino got released from prison, chances are he and his wife Lauren will think to start a family.

The couple got married in November 2018 and talked to the US weekly about their fondness for children. Now that he has served his time, Sorrentino can calm down and spend quality time with his family.

Sorrentino may be free from prison but the difficult time cannot be escaped easily. His prison drama plays out on TV weekly on MTV’s “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.”

“The Situation”, as Mike was known to his fans of MTV’s “Jersey Shore”, was released early in the morning. It was a bittersweet experience for him and made him realise to go out for some quality friends there.

He imagined walking out the front gate and went directly home while he had 24 to 48 hours to report to his supervised release probation officer and get his list of conditions.

It is informed that he shall be able to film with the cast of MTV according to his supervised release conditions. There are no restrictions regarding alcohol use, or working in venues that serve alcohol. The roommates, family, fans and relatives were elated with happiness post his release that counts the dark chapters of 8 months in prison.
