Oprah Winfrey knows a thing or two about life. She has gone through the worst of circumstances and survived and come out of them with a still positive heart and tons of wisdom. She was born poor, kept away from quality education, lonely as a child, raped as a teenager and broke as an adult. However, even on the worst days of her life when hell appeared to be a safer option to be in she has never lost her “do the right thing” ethic and has always looked towards the future. While Scarlet O’Hara has said these immortal words “Tomorrow is another day,” it is Oprah Winfrey who has lived it.
An Unfair Charge
So when Winfrey speaks people listen and when she does something people get curious. She started the Oprah Winfrey Network [OWN] to produce quality programs and bring them across to people who could get enjoyment, life lessons, and inspiration from them. In little time OWN has come to symbolize quality programming that not only appeals to people on an emotional level it also makes them think. Though there has been an unfair charge against OWN that it mainly caters to the African-American population the truth is that its themes are universal and provide guidance to people of all colors.
A Time for Catharsis
Like their hugely watched program Love Goals, a reality TV series that follows a couple’s therapist named Spirit as she counsels and guides five celebrity couples even as they are at the crossroads in their interesting relationships. The challenges these celebrity couples face include fame, power, infidelity, communication issues and childhood trauma. They are all trying to overcome these life-stopping problems and come out of the dark places they are stuck in. Spirit does a fine job of talking to them and making them come out of their shells and speak with honesty and vigor so that they can start the self-healing process.
