Anu Aggarwal who is also known as Anita Aggarwal was born in Delhi on January 11, 1969. Her family moved to Chennai after her birth.
After a very short period of modelling and VJing, she appeared for the first time in the Doordarshan serial Isi Bahane in 1988. She made her Bollywood debut with the musical blockbuster movie Aashiqui.
Anu Aggarwal found fame with her movies Aashiqui, The Cloud Door, and Thiruda. She actively worked from 1988 to 1998.
Then Anu Aggarwal met with a serious accident in 1999, which left her career in a lurch. She was in a coma for 29 days and was left with no memory. Now she is settled in Bengaluru where she practices yoga and amateur power-lifting. After her accident, she has participated in many powerlifting competitions. In an interview, she said:
“To feel strong, to walk amongst humans with a tremendous feeling of confidence and superiority are not at all wrong. The sense of superiority in bodily strength is borne out by the long history of mankind paying homage in folklore, song and poetry to strong women.”

The Hindi musical romantic drama Aashiqui was released in 1990. The melodious songs of the movie made it a super hit at the box office.
The movie was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and the cast comprised of actors Rahul Roy, Anu Aggarwal and Deepak Tijori.
The film was well known for its songs which were composed by the duo Nadeem-Sharavan and sung by Kumar Sanu. It is a bestseller having sold more than 20 million units till date. It started a new era of music in Bollywood which lasted for a while.

During her recovery, she didn’t give up and tried to survive constantly and she succeeded. Right now Aggarwal is single and practices yoga. In 2015, she wrote an autobiography titled
“Anusual – Memoir of a Girl Who Came Back from the Dead.”
